MTB2 - The Celtic Challenge Trophy was held in the Lagoon Paisley on Saturday 26th March 2011 and proved to be a thrilling show with some spectacular fight action. Congratulations to all fighters who took part and a big thank you to all the gyms, trainers, staff and also the huge crowd of fans who made MTB2 a show to remember.
MTB2 featured 3 hard fought Scotland V Ireland fights for the Celtic Challenge Trophy, with Scotland eventually taking the Trophy after beating Ireland 2 -1. Martin Connroy of Castlegar Muay Thai (Ireland) defeated Paul Kelly of Wossobamma Gym (Scotland) by TKO, giving Ireland the lead before Chris Shaw of OB Gym (Scotland) defeated Gary O'Neil of Cork Muay Thai (Ireland) to even the score at 1-1. Congratulations to Lloyd Cochran of OB Gym (Scotland)for winning the ISKA European Lightweight Title after a fantastic fight against Andy Gray of Cork Muay Thai (Ireland), with both warriors fighting hard for 5 rounds, before Lloyd took a points decision, winning the European title and taking Scotland to 2-1, winning the Celtic Challenge Trophy for Scotland.
To end the night, we had the priviledge of watching Hilary Mac take on Linda Ooms for the ISKA Women’s World Super-flyweight title at 53.3kg. After 5 rounds of very hard-fought Muay Thai action, Hilary Mac was awarded a points decision and crowned ISKA Women's World Super-Flyweight Champion, congratulations Hilary!
Before the Celtic Challenge and Title Fights, we also had 9 very exciting undercard fights featuring some of the best up and coming talent in Scotland, congratulations and thanks again to all fighters for making MTB2 a cracking show!
